Martin Couture President and Chief Executive Officer

Martin Couture <span>President and Chief Executive Officer</span>

Holding a Bachelor degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University (Canton, New York), Martin is creative, forward-thinking and charismatic leader. He combines strong leadership skills with extensive operational experience. Since joining Sanimax in 1989, through his involvement in the Rendering and Restaurant Services units, two core sectors of the family business, Martin has gained an in-depth knowledge of the industry. Since taking the helm of the company in 2009, he has invested his efforts in modernising the operations and putting corporate values into practice. Martin was named one of Canada’s “Top 40 under 40”, a Caldwell Partners award, in 2007, and received the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2008. He is an active member of the National Renderers Association, the professional association of the rendering industry in North America, and is also deeply involved with the Young Presidents’ Organization since 2003.

François Berthiaume Vice President, Finance and Administration

François has nearly 25 years of experience working for companies with national or worldwide operations. Having held key positions in various industries, he joined Sanimax in early 2015, attracted by the company’s entrepreneurial profile and international presence.

Focused on improving and optimizing results and processes, François seeks to strike the right balance between strategy and fieldwork. His area of expertise includes strategic planning, management of accounting and financial operations as well as business and financial process reengineering.

Holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Sherbrooke, he is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA, CA) and the Québec Chapter of Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada).

Vincent Brossard Vice President, Operations

Vincent began his career with Sanimax as Chief Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the company, but he quickly showed his interest in operations. Since 2011, Vincent has acted as attorney while gradually assuming the leadership of our Québec facilities to finally be appointed Head of our North American plants and operations.

This career path allowed Vincent to have a unique experience and understanding of the company’s management and performance. From corporate governance to manufacturing processes and the importance of sound financial management, Vincent is recognized as a result-oriented senior executive and a change agent with leadership and managerial courage who strongly advocates the development of his teams.

Prior to joining Sanimax, Vincent spent over ten years within one of the largest Canadian financial institution as Vice-President, Legal and Corporate Affairs – Communications.

Denis Caron Vice-President, People & Culture and Strategic Compliance

Denis Caron <span> Vice-President, People & Culture and Strategic Compliance </span>

Denis graduated in Industrial Relations from Quebec’s Laval University. As a Human Resources Executive, he has successfully taken up the challenges involved in acquisitions, change management, compensation, performance, talent management and labor relations during his career.

He has occupied key positions for large Canadian Corporations essentially in the retail industry, where he took on various Human Resources responsibilities. Before joining Sanimax, Denis was Senior Vice-President, People and Culture for Rona Inc. where he played a leadership role in fostering Leadership change with a strong customer focus. He was also Executive Director for Walmart Canada.

Terry Finn Vice-President, Procurement

Terry’s successful sales career began at H.J. Heinz, where he moved up the ranks from Sales Representative to National Sales Manager in just ten years. More recently, he served as Vice-President of marketing and sales for Vidéotron, a leading Quebec telecommunications company. Terry focuses on building solid teams and developing strong, long-lasting relationships with his customers. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Montreal’s École des Haute Études Commerciales.

Martial Hamel Vice President, Supply Chain

Martial joined Sanimax in 2010 after spending 12 years in the chemicals and food ingredients industry where he held several leadership positions in the sales and supply chain functions.  Before joining us, Martial was General Sales Manager at Univar, a global industrial and specialty chemicals distributor, were he led the company central Canada region through a major turnaround.  At Sanimax, Martial has led the transformation of our Customer Experience and supply chain operations over 3 years through major company-wide initiatives.  Martial currently hold the position of Senior Vice-President where his ultimate responsibility lies in the North American P&L.  Martial holds an MBA from Athabasca University and has been named Supply Chain Executive of the Year in 2017 by The Freight Management Association of Canada for its leadership and innovative approach in the field of Supply Chain.

Brandon Foley Vice-President, Business Development

For over 15 years Brandon has built his vast global sales experience, starting his career with Canada’s largest food processing company – Maple Leaf Foods, in Toronto, Canada. He has held various management positions and has overseen foreign offices in Korea and Hong Kong. Brandon joined Sanimax in 2006 in Green Bay, WI and currently based in South St. Paul, MN. Brandon currently serves on the Governing Board of the National Biodiesel Board based in Jefferson City, MO. He also served as the Vice-Chairman of the United States Hide, Skin and Leather Association (a member of AMI American Meat Institute). Brandon is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. Brandon is family man first, and when not attending to family business he has a great passion for sports of all kinds, with running and hockey being his two leading sports.

Michael Carlson Vice-President, Sales, Proteins, Fats & Oils

Michael Carlson is based in Green Bay and began his career with Sanimax in 1994. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and has been trading cash commodities for over 25 years. Michael’s role with Sanimax is in leading the Sales team for internally produced, finished rendered products as well as related third party products. Prior to Sanimax, Mike was with US Commodities located in Minneapolis, MN, and also with Tysons (IBP) located in Dakota City, NE.

Tim Guzek Vice-President, Procurement, Strategic Accounts

Tim Guzek <span>Vice-President, Procurement, Strategic Accounts</span>

A team leader with more than 25 years of experience in the rendering business, Tim believes in valuing relationships and providing excellent customer service. Since joining Anamax, one of our predecessor companies, in 1996, he has contributed to our success in a number of senior positions. Tim currently serves on the Board of the Wisconsin Agribusiness Council, sits on two committees of the National Renderers Association, and is active in several charities. He holds a degree in Business Management.
